for everyone

[Parts of the Project | Purpose | Goal or the reason for creation | Timeline]

I normally dont keep track of what I've done, and where i'm heading. But just for the record, I'm listing down what I've achieved (in a way), and where I'm heading. And also, like what i've said before, I'm squatting here for the mean time.

1. Map Making. A Cheap Substitute for D&D. Was a big fan of Final Fantasy back then and for temporary recreational satisfaction. 8yrs ago.
2. Character Creation. For Role Playing Needs (I was a budding RPG addict). Again for personal enjoyment. 7 yrs ago.
3. Game development. A text based RPG program in C. dungeon crawler type. For a project involving arrays and OOP. 5 yrs ago.
4. Story development. Inspired by the world of Faerun (Forgotten Realms) and LOTR. As a hobby, and for my younger bro. (I used to explain the story of the hobbit to him, and he was in third grade). 5 yrs ago.
5. Book development. Inspired by the success of rip-off (kidding) artist Paolini. For Personal Fulfilment. 3 yrs ago.
6. Community development. Inspired by collaborative social media, and Pierre's Xanth Series, in which readers create as much of the fantasy world as the author. For creating a userbase and support group for game book enthusiasts, collectors of non-conformist fantasy artworks and unconventional gamers. 7 months ago.
7. Social development. Inspired by the recent kapwa-2 conference. The current stage of its development. For culture-bearing purposes. Yesterday.

I've been inspired by de Guia's book to promote the heritage of Philippine Culture. With the effectual (not defectual) outlook in filipino worldview and lifestyles, I sought to recreate the world of aethrnia into something that's inherently Filipino. And I hope it will evangelize people into having a non-westernized worldview, and consider our Filipino traits as something to be proud of. And I hope in the process, I could present our native craft and culture as "cool" in the game and the book, as well. Anyway, I'm still reformulating the aspects of the world in which I can integrate filipino culture without losing most of the ideas and elements of the game/world i've created beforehand. Already, instead of the elven scripts similar to that of Tolkien's Tengwar, I changed the magickal runes of the Aelvi into a more cursive Alibata. In a way, it's kind-of arabic, y'know kind-of stem-like, with the characters as its leaves, and having a underline stem. The heraldic crests embedded into the Shaed's bodies for their vesprile (aura) wings will be something similar to that of the Pintados, though it's still up my head, and not yet written, because as of the moment, I have no copy of authentic pintados tattoos. Because most of my materials and inspiration come from western products, it became a lot more harder to retain my targeted audience. I'm still overwhelmed by the challenge(problem would be a better word) of how I could somehow come up with something very filipino but in a way, generate an appeal much like that of the products of Blizzard, White Wolf and Wizards of the Coast. So, right now, I'm looking at Anino's work, Anito, to see their references and how they tackled that uh, challenge. and if I could somehow make the world of Anito become a microcosm of Aethrnia, in Book Two, in which Homo Sapien Sapiens were saved by the Aessirs. I hope Paul Gadi could help me with this one.

Again, I'm writing this in a public place.
